Naming changes

Due to some unanticipated confusion, I'm going to change a couple of names.

First up is the GW (Washington). Imagine TOS Constitution and TMP Enterprise/-A. The latter was a Refit of the former. That's how I'd envisioned the GW and its Refit, but it's caused a little confusion. So, from now on, I'll continue referring to the original version as the Washington aka GW.

The one with the armored bridge, collimated phaser strips, twin impulse domes and advanced nacelles will now be called the MacArthur (it's the lowest registry name on its decal sheet).

The other change is one of scale. When I first started on this little venture it was because I wanted models for tabletop gaming. Gamescience and ADB used 1/3788. IIRC FASA's minis were 1/3900. I settled on 1/3788 because they're still readily available. Then a bunch of people requested my models in 1/2500, which is half-jokingly referred to as "Sacred" scale. So I used that term and called the smaller 1/3788 stuff as "Gaming" scale. The problem is that the 1/2500 guys are already modelers and generally know what scale they want, but I primarily supply to gamers who don't care about scale as much. That left a lot of gamers wondering what the hell I was talking about.

And to make matters even more fun I'll soon be working on 1/7000 versions of everything. To try to limit the sure-to-ensue confusion, I'm going to start referring to everything in a way that I hope implies their respective sizes. Again, this should primarily be of benefit to gamers. Here goes:

1/2500 = Dueling scale
(122mm or ~4_3/4" Enterprise-A)
1/3788 = Squadron scale (81mm or ~3_1/4" Enterprise-A) = ADB Star Fleet Battles and FASA Combat Simulator scale
1/7000 = Fleet scale (44mm or ~1_3/4" Enterprise-A)

I'll continue answering questions, but please help me out. All of my kits have names. Links with photos/renders are always available so one can see exactly what kit I'm talking about. I'm trying to make it easy for you tell me which one you want, so please work with me on that.

Gaming scale model SNAFU

Ahem. In my excitement over the good showing at Wonderfest I managed to goof a bit on the Gaming scale Trek line. Whoops. The details aren't important, but the gist is that some of the models aren't in stock. So here's what is in stock:

Federation
Abbe PT Destroyer -- $10
Avenger Heavy Frigate -- $10
Podesti Cruiser -- $10
MacArthur Advanced Dreadnought -- $12.50

Klingon
D7M K'tinga Battlecruiser -- $10
B11 Deathgiver Battleship -- $17.50

Romulan
Firehawk Heavy Cruiser -- $10
Sparrowhawk Light Cruiser -- $8.50

I will, of course, update this list when appropriate. Sorry for any confusion, delays, etc.

Gaming scale model launch (Now called Squadron scale)

I'm back from Wonderfest. What an absolute blast! I met a ton of really cool people, made some great business contacts and got about seven hours of sleep over the three days. Whew! I'm beat! But it was totally worth it and I can't wait to see everyone again next year.

I went ahead and updated the previous post to show some pics of all the new stuff. I'm still working on getting photos of resin, but at least you'll know what everything looks like.

In addition to the normal 1/2500 Sacred (now called Dueling) scale, all Trek-inspired kits are now also available in 1/3788 Gaming (now called Squadron) scale. All Gaming (Squadron) scale models include decals and cost one-half of what their larger cousins cost.

A few people have been...encouraging...me to branch off from Star Trek. So how about Star Wars? All will appear in 1/20,000. A few might appear in 1/10,000. They're all still rough, but I thought you might like to see them.

More pics of the Empire fleet line-up. Yes, I know that the Acclamator is not Empire, but it's the same style.

Top row, left to right: Demolisher, Interdictor, Acclamator

Beneath them, top to bottom: Victory, Allegiance (fan design), Imperial

Bottom: Super...sort of. There's been controversy over the official size of the Executor (I personally go for it being 17.6-19.0 km). The smaller, 8.0-12.0km version was doctored. I'm viewing this as an intermediary step between the Imperial and the Executor. As such, there will be many discrepancies, beyond size, on the details (wrong number of engines, different bridge, wrong tail shape, etc.) Final kit will be ~15"-16" long.

There's one more not posted, but it's a surprise.

Update time again, Amigos

I've been debating whether or not I should post this, but I may as well, if for no other reason than I'm tired of explaining it again and again. I got laid off about 10 days ago in a most unethical and villainous manner. A buddy and I had been planning on taking this past weekend off and my wife pretty much insisted after the layoff was official. So we went to Mexico. Hey, it seemed like a good idea at the time... We had a blast and got to cross off several things on my "Things I want to do in life" list. I even crossed off one thing that I didn't even realize was on the list, which was "Get rescued at sea by a foreign power." Yeah, that was fun.

Anyhow, here's a couple of pics of models in process. One of our friends is helping me out on this, so we're actually making some good progress. More details soon.

More prototypes completed

Both Romulan ships, the Firehawk and Sparrowhawk have finished CAD models and the prototypes have been printed and are in my hands. They look cool. I'd like to take pictures, before mold work begins, but I'm a tad busy with class. Still, they're progressing nicely.
